| Has no home | |
| Has no employment | |
| Has no income, in many cases not even a government subsidy | |
| Has little or no family support | |
| Is often ineffective at accessing available social services |
These men are like lepers in the New Testament sense, functioning outside of primary societal structures.
Many single men fall outside the resources of the available shelters in Athens. Therefore, we see a need for an additional spiritually based life-skills training and resource center that can successfully assist these men to rebuild the basic elements of functioning in their lives.

The heart of God leads us to a mercy ministry which applies the healing power of the gospel to those who are dysfunctional in almost every sense of the word. The four components which we seek to include in our recovery model include:
1. A loving spiritual environment of worship, prayer, teaching, and fellowship,
2. The material resources of shelter and basic living provisions which many of us take for granted, including not only food and shelter, but a place to call home and return to every day, a place to bathe, make phone calls, wash clothes, etc.
3. An accountability structure which guides clients in goal setting and gives needed structure for recovery
4. Referral to appropriate ministries and social service agencies which can help the individuals to become healthy and functional participants in the local community.
A Christ-centered ministry that combines these elements will enable men to move from the ranks of the downcast and outcasts and to experience victory in the family of God.
A Christ-centered ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit must seek success in this kind of work; the love of Christ compels us.
